MICA Specialist, TLC
Weston United Community Renewal is seeking a MICA Specialist for its Transitional Living Community (TLC) program.
ORGANIZATION: Weston United Community Renewal, Inc. is a not for profit organization located in Harlem, New York. For 30 years, Weston United has provided housing and supportive services to participants with histories of chronic homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse. Weston United employs over 100 employees who contribute to a rich and diverse work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Intake and assessment, orientation and screening process, documentation of all client related interactions into client date base systems, assessing the needs and strengths of consumers to set service plan goals and objective and conducting substance abuse and/or relapse prevention groups weekly. Work closely with the social service team and carry a small caseload of clients to help move the consumers on to more stable housing and independent living. The Specialist must provide individual counseling sessions, and facilitate healthy recovery and risk reduction groups. They also have to provide outpatient and inpatient referrals and other community resources to the consumers. Also, work closely with the social service team to improve consumer’s daily living skills, assist with escorts and follow up as needed. Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
QUALIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field, CASAC and /or Master's Degree preferred with at least 2 year of mental health experience. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills; good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and knowledge of the DHS CARES system and AWARDS a plus.
