About GALLERY M: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of works in the exhibition go to fund the self-help program at GALLERY M, a wholly owned strategic business unit of Weston United Community Renewal Inc. Weston United is a non-profit social services organization serving the Harlem Community since 1985, providing supportive residential and innovative rehabilitative services to those struggling to overcome homelessness, substance abuse and serious mental illness. GALLERY M provides the consumers of Weston United the therapeutic benefits of a paid employment experience in an art gallery setting. Founded in 1996, GALLERY M has been a leading force in Harlem for the representation of exceptional contemporary established and emerging artists. Previous exhibitions have included work by damali ayo, AABronson, John Bankston, Larry Clark, Ellen Gallagher, David Hammons, Adrian Piper, Peter Saul, Malick Sidibe,Kara Walker, Andy Warhol and Carrie Mae Weems. Publications in which the Gallery has been mentioned include Art in America, Esquire (Japanese edition), The New York Times, Time Out New York, Vanity Fair and The Village Voice.
